Sell & Redeem Gift Cards via Ingenico Credit Card Terminals

Physical gift cards purchased from MyTime can be sold and redeemed in-store using Ingenico credit card terminals. In this article, you will learn how to sell and redeem physical gift cards using Ingenico credit card terminals.

Things to know:

• This feature is only available for physical gift cards purchased from MyTime and is accessible exclusively to Ingenico terminal users.
• To order physical gift cards or an Ingenico terminal, please contact our Processing Team at processing@mytime.com. 
• The Gift Card "Swipe" link will appear only if at least one payment terminal supports clear text swiping.
• The terminal dropdown list in the Gift Card Swipe modal will only include terminals that support clear text swiping.
• The first six digits of MyTime-issued gift cards will always be 698463
• The maximum length of a gift card number is 25 characters
• By default, payment buttons may lack visual prominence, making it difficult for staff to quickly identify the primary payment method. This can lead to selecting incorrect options or improper transaction processing. You can request a layout change that reorders the buttons and highlights the primary action in blue for better visibility.
  • Default Display:
    • No Card on File: [Key In Card] [Swipe Card]
    • Card on File: [Visa ****1234] [Key In Card] [Swipe Card]
  • Enhanced Display (High Visibility):
    • No Card on File: [Swipe/Tap Card] (Highlighted) [Manual Entry]
    • Card on File: [Visa ****1234] (Highlighted) [Swipe/Tap] [Manual Entry]
  • Important: This is controlled by a hidden setting that must be enabled by the MyTime team. If you would like to switch to the high-visibility payment buttons, please contact us at support@mytime.com

Sell Physical Gift Cards via Ingenico Credit Card Terminals

Selling gift cards through an Ingenico credit card terminal allows you to quickly register the gift card number without having to type it in or use a magstripe reader.

To sell a physical gift card via Ingenico credit card terminals:

1. Navigate to the POS > New Ticket page
2. Select Gift Card in the products tab
3. Choose the Swipe option next to the Card # field                                                                                                                                                                                                                      
4. A swipe modal will be displayed                                                                                                                          
5. Swipe the gift card on the terminal 
6. The gift card number is entered into MyTime's Card # field 

Redeem Physical Gift Cards via Ingenico Credit Card Terminals

To redeem a physical gift card via Ingenico credit card terminals:

1. Navigate to the POS > New Ticket page
2. Add an appointment or item to the ticket
3. Select the Take Payment button
4. Select the Swipe link on the payment screen
5. A swipe modal will be displayed                                                                                                                                                    
6. Swipe the gift card on the terminal 
7. Close the ticket
