Editing Gift Cards in the Client Profile

Modified on Thu, 25 Sep at 8:58 AM

Once a gift card is purchased, its value and expiration date can be edited in the client’s profile, regardless of whether it has been assigned to a recipient. This article explains how to edit a gift card and view any changes made to it.

Things to know:

  • The ability to edit gift cards on a client profile is governed by the Accessing Gift Cards access control setting.
  • Gift cards sold without an assigned recipient will appear on the purchaser’s profile, allowing you to edit and assign them later. This behavior is controlled by the Display Unassigned Gift Cards on the Purchaser's Profile setting under Business Setup > Settings. For example, if a gift card is sold to John via POS without a specified recipient, it will display on John’s profile for future editing and assignment.
  • After assigning the gift card to a client, it will be transferred to that client's profile, and the "Assign To" option will no longer be available.
  • The gift card audit trail records changes to the balance, but edits to the expiration date are not logged in the audit trail on the client profile.
  • The audit trail is not visible on parent-level client accounts.

To edit a gift card:

  1. Navigate to the Clients tab and open the desired client profile
  2. Scroll to the Gift Cards section
  3. Click Edit Gift Card
  4. In the Edit Gift Card window, you can:
    • Adjust the value
    • Update the expiration date
    • Assign a recipient by entering their name, email, or phone number in the "Assign To" field
  5. Click Save to apply your changes

The gift card will immediately reflect the updated details.
