Adding Gift Cards Manually on Client Profile

Modified on Wed, 25 Jun at 5:15 PM

Manually adding a gift card to a client’s profile allows it to be automatically available as a payment option when checking out a purchase for that client in POS. This article walks you through how to add a gift card from the client’s profile.

Things to know:

  • The ability to manually add gift cards on a client’s profile is governed by the "Accessing Gift Cards" access control setting.
  • By default, gift cards can be added to a client’s profile without payment. However, if the "Prevent adding a gift card to a client record without taking payment" hidden setting is enabled, the system will prevent adding a gift card unless payment has been received.
  • When adding a gift card, you can set an expiration date—this is controlled by the “Enable Gift Card Expiration” setting. Learn more here.
  • You can enter a custom gift card number, or leave the field blank for the system to generate one automatically.
  • You can monitor gift card activity by clicking the "Audit Trail" link within the client’s profile. Learn more here.

To manually add a gift card to a client's profile:

  1. Navigate to the Clients tab
  2. Open the desired client profile
  3. Scroll down to the Gift Cards section
  4. Click the "Add Gift Card" link or the "+" icon
  5. A modal will appear where you can:
    • Select the location
    • Enter a gift card number (optional)
    • Enter the gift card amount
  6. To process payment for the gift card:
    • Click Take Payment
    • You will be redirected to POS to complete the transaction and close the ticket

Once the details are entered, click Add to save the gift card to the client’s profile.
