Selling physical gift cards through our POS system simplifies the transaction process and offers valuable opportunities for promoting customer loyalty and increasing revenue. In this article, we will walk through the steps on how to sell physical gift cards in-store in POS.
Things to know:
- To order physical gift cards, visit https://hardware.mytime.com/collections/gift-cards. Before placing your order, we recommend contacting support@mytime.com to review the ordering process and estimated delivery timelines.
- For Ingenico terminal users, our gift cards can be swiped or keyed in. Learn more here.
- For Stripe terminal users, our gift cards can be scanned (barcode scanner required) or keyed in.
- If a client is not selected in the Client field (top left of the POS), the gift card will not be assigned to any specific client and will be recorded as a walk-in transaction.
- When a gift card is sold without being assigned to a recipient, it will still appear on the purchaser’s profile—provided the “Display Unassigned Gift Cards On The Purchaser’s Profile” setting is enabled under Business Setup > Settings. For example, if you sell a gift card to John through POS without specifying a recipient, the gift card will appear on John’s profile. You can later edit the gift card to assign it to a recipient.
- All gift card purchases and balances will be reflected in the Gift Card reports.
- The locations shown in the location dropdown when creating a new ticket (to add a gift card) in POS are dependent on the following:
- Create Tickets for Their Location(s) and Block for All Locations access control enabled
- If the staff member is assigned to only one location, only that location will appear
- If the staff member is assigned to multiple locations:
- All associated locations will be displayed in the location filter
- The default location will be the one they last filtered to
- They can choose a different location if needed
- Block/Create Ticket for Their Location(s) and Create Ticket for All Locations in POS access control enabled

- The default location will be the one the staff member last filtered to
