For pet-based businesses, MyTime allows you to add multiple pet profiles to a single client record directly from the Clients tab. This article walks you through the steps and important considerations when manually adding a pet to a client profile.
Things to Know:
- The ability to create or edit pet profiles is governed by the "Accessing Client Records" access control setting.
- The client must be added before any associated pets can be added to their profile. Pets cannot be created without first linking them to an existing client record.
- Each client can have up to 100 pets associated with their account.
- Pet names must be unique and cannot match the name of the client.
- If custom pet fields have been created and marked as required, those fields must be completed before each pet profile can be saved. Learn more about custom pet fields here.
- On the client profile, you can still see pet information even after it has been deleted
- Deleted pets remain visible on the client’s profile and appear greyed out with "(Deleted)" next to their name.
- Pets will be displayed on clients' profiles in the following order:
- Active Pets
- Deceased
- Deleted
- Deceased and Deleted
- When the Date of Birth field is completed, MyTime will automatically calculate and display the pet's age on both the pet profile and the appointment modal:
- Less than 1 Month Old → Displays as: < 1 month old
- Exactly 1 Month Old → Displays as: 1 month old
- Between 1 Month and 1 Year Old → Displays as: X months old (e.g., 8 months old)
- Exactly 1 Year Old → Displays as: 1 year old
- Older than 1 Year → Displays as: X years and Y months old (e.g., 2 years and 3 months
- When searching for a client, recently booked clients at the current location automatically appear at the top of the results. This behavior applies whether you are searching from the Scheduler or the Clients tab.
- Search results include any pets associated with a client. If multiple clients have a pet with the same name, each will appear separately, ordered by most recently booked. To help you identify the right person quickly:
- The breed is displayed next to the pet's name (e.g., "Rex (Golden Retriever)"). If no breed is assigned, only the pet's name is shown. Deceased pets are automatically hidden from search results.
- Note for pet businesses: If your account has the Enable Pet-First Search in Appointment Modal hidden setting enabled, you can search by pet name in the appointment modal's Pet field before selecting a client. Selecting a pet from the results will automatically populate the Client field.
