Automatically Split Tips for Multi-Staff Appointments

Modified on Mon, 28 Jul at 2:02 PM

This article explains how tips are automatically distributed on POS tickets when more than one staff member is involved in an appointment.

Things to know:

  • Automatic Tip Splitting is enabled by default for appointments involving multiple staff members and cannot be turned off.
  • When a single tip is entered, it is automatically divided among the staff members who provided services.
  • Tip distribution is based on each staff member’s share of the total appointment revenue.\
  • You can manually adjust the tip distribution on the POS ticket if needed.

The system calculates each staff member’s share of the tip using this formula:

(Staff Member's Service Revenue ÷ Total Appointment Revenue) × Tip Amount

For example:

  1. Navigate to Schedule
  2. Create a multi-staff appointment and save
  3. Open the appointment from step 2 and click on the Checkout button Schedule-MyTime.png
  4. Add tip amount but do not manually split it                                                                                                              split_tip.png
  5. Take payment and close the ticket

The system will automatically split the tip based on the service revenue of each staff member divided by the total appointment value.

Laura’s Service Revenue: $60

James’s Service Revenue: $40

Total Revenue: $100

Tip Left by Client: $20

Tip Breakdown:

Laura’s Share:

$60 ÷ $100 = 0.6

0.6 × $20 = $12

James’s Share:

$40 ÷ $100 = 0.4

0.4 × $20 = $8

The system will automatically assign $12 to Laura and $8 to James based on the percentage of services they performed.
