In this article, we will explain how to enable the automatic staff clock-out feature and discuss the scenarios in which it applies.
Things to know:
- If a staff member forgets to clock out at the end of their shift, the system will automatically clock them out at midnight, using the end of their scheduled shift as the clock-out time.
- The end of the shift is based on the staff member's work schedule, which could be custom hours or the hours set on their profile.
- If the staff member's working hours are not specified, the system will default to the location's business hours.

Enable Automatic Clock Out of Staff Members
- Navigate to Business Setup > Settings
- Locate the Staff section
- Toggle the Automatically clock out staff members? option to YES
- Save your changes
Scenarios
- If a staff member with set hours on their profile clocks in but does not clock out at the end of their shift, the system will automatically clock them out at midnight using the end time from their profile.
- If a staff member with custom hours clocks in but does not clock out, the system will automatically clock them out at midnight using the end time from their custom hours.
- If a staff member has both profile hours and custom hours set, and they clock in but don’t clock out, the system will use the custom hours’ end time to automatically clock them out at midnight.
- If a staff member has no hours set on their profile or in custom hours, and they clock in but do not clock out, the system will use the location’s business hours to automatically clock them out at midnight.
- If a staff member clocks in earlier or later than their scheduled shift but does not clock out, the system will automatically clock them out at midnight using the end time from their staff profile.
- If a staff member works at multiple locations and clocks in at both, but does not clock out at the end of their shift, the system will automatically clock them out at midnight using the end time from their profile for each location.
