When a client purchases a gift card online, the recipient will receive an email with all the gift card details. The gift card can be redeemed in multiple ways online or in-store. In this article, we will explore redeeming gift cards online.
Things to Know:
- Gift cards and promotional codes cannot be applied to services that require a deposit fee. As a result, the Promo and Gift Card fields will not appear on the checkout page in the booking widget when booking a service with a deposit requirement.
- A gift card code can be applied to any client's purchase, as long as they have the gift card code.
- To simplify the online checkout experience for your clients, you can choose to display separate input fields for gift cards and promo codes during redemption. This helps reduce confusion and makes the process more user-friendly. This feature is controlled by a hidden setting and can only be enabled by the MyTime team. - When booking a class online that requires a deposit, clients can choose to pay a partial amount using a gift card or cover the full amount using any available payment method.
- Pay In Person
- If the gift card balance covers the full deposit: The client enters their gift card code at checkout. The card is applied to the deposit, and any remaining balance on the gift card can be used toward the class total during the in-store checkout. If a balance remains, another payment method can be used in person.
- If the gift card covers only part of the deposit: The system applies the gift card to the available amount, and the remaining portion of the deposit is charged to the client’s credit card at checkout. The client can then pay any remaining class balance in person.
- Pay Online
- If the gift card covers the deposit and the full class balance: The entire amount is paid using the gift card once it is applied at checkout.
- If the gift card covers only the deposit: The gift card is applied to the deposit, and the client's credit card is charged for the remaining class balance.
- If the gift card covers only part of the deposit: The system applies the gift card to the portion it can cover. The client’s credit card is then charged for both the remainder of the deposit and the remaining class fees at checkout.

Redeem Gift Card via Email Received
- In the email received, click on the Book an Appointment button at the bottom of the email.

- They will be redirected to your booking widget where they can proceed to book an appointment.
- On the checkout page, the gift card will automatically apply.

Manually Enter the Gift Card Code on the Checkout Page
To manually apply the gift card code, clients can:
- Go to your booking widget
- Book an appointment for any service, staff, and time
- On the checkout page, enter the gift card code in the Apply Gift Card / Promo Code field

- Then hit the Apply button
- The code will be successfully applied

- Complete the booking
