Employee Gender Filtering

The employee gender filtering feature enables clients to request a staff member of a specific gender when booking services online or in-store. This option can be particularly important for certain services, such as massages, where personal comfort and trust are crucial. Many clients feel more at ease receiving personal services from a staff member of a specific gender, which can enhance their overall experience. In this article, we will guide you through the steps to configure employee filtering and explain how this feature functions.


Things to know:

  • When configuring the gender filter, you can include any gender, and you can also change the name of the filter. By default, the genders will be set to male and female.
  • The following will occur when your clients are utilizing the employee gender filtering feature online:

    • If the "No Preference" option is selected when scheduling an appointment, and "All" is chosen for the gender filter, the system will continue to use the round-robin mechanism for selecting staff.

    • If no specific employee is chosen but a gender is selected in the gender filter, the system will automatically assign an employee of the selected gender.

    • If a specific gender is chosen in the gender filter, employees of other genders will be disabled in the "WHO WOULD YOU LIKE TO BOOK?" filter (if your business allows clients to choose a staff member) and in the "FILTER BY STAFF MEMBER" section on the left side of the page.

    • If the selected gender is changed to another gender on the checkout page, the staff selection filters on both the service page and the "Pick a Time" page will reset to "No Preference."

  • The following will occur when you utilize the employee gender filtering feature in-store:

    • In the appointment modal, if the "All" option is selected from the Request drop-down menu, all employees will be visible in the staff drop-down menu when selecting a staff member.

    • If the "Female" option is selected from the Request drop-down menu, only female staff members will be displayed in the drop-down menu, accompanied by the label *Female Requested

    • If the "Male" option is selected from the Request drop-down menu, only male staff members will appear in the drop-down menu, with the label *Male Requested

    • When a gender is specified for recurring appointments, each appointment in the series will display the selected gender icon on the schedule.
  • You can only select one gender type when booking an appointment, regardless of how many services are included in the appointment.
  • When a client selects a specific gender, the gender icon will be displayed on the appointment tile in-store.
  • If a staff member's profile does not specify a gender, they will still appear in the "Who would you like to book?" dropdown during online appointment booking, regardless of whether the filter is set to "No Preference," "Male," or "Female."


CONTENTS:


Employee Filter Configuration 

  1. Navigate to Business Setup > Settings
  2. Under the Online Booking heading, locate and toggle the settings "Enable Employee Filter For Online Booking" on
  3. Once enabled, there will be 2 additional fields exposed for you to configure what your filter should look like and what it should include. The additional fields would be:
    • Employee Filter For Online Booking Label (e.g. Gender)
    • Employee Filter For Online Booking Options Comma-Separated (e.g. Male, Female)
  4. Once done, save your changes      


Gender Selection on Staff Profile

Once the settings are enabled you first need to make gender selections on the staff profiles: 

  1. Navigate to Business Setup > Staff and Availability
  2. Select the staff profile you wish to edit
  3. On the staff profile, the gender selection field will be exposed
  4. Click the dropdown arrow to expose the gender options
  5. Select a gender, then save the staff profile


Gender Filtering on the Schedule

To utilize the gender filtering feature on the schedule:

  1. Navigate to the Schedule
  2. Filter by the desired location
  3. Click on the "New Appointment" button below the calendar on the left-hand side of the schedule, or on a specific time slot directly in the schedule
  4. The appointment modal will appear
  5. Add the client you are booking the appointment for. If the client is new, click on the "Add Client" button and enter the personal information for the client                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                             
  6. Select a date and time for the appointment

  8. Once a gender is selected, the staff drop-down menu will automatically update to show the available staff members who meet that preference.                                                                                                                                                            
  9. Select a staff member
  10. Select a service
  11. Click the "Save" button located at the bottom of the modal                                                                                              
  12. The appointment will be visible on the schedule marked with the chosen gender icon


Gender Filtering on the Booking Widget

To utilize the gender filtering feature on the booking widget, your clients can:

  1. Navigate to your booking widget
  2. Select the desired location (if the account has multiple locations)
  3. On the service page, select the preferred gender from the gender drop-down menu
  4. Next, select the desired service

  6. If no gender was selected on the service page, the option to filter by gender will be available here. Next, choose a date and time (the time picker will display a monthly view by default).                                                                  Screenshot 2024-10-30 182949.jpg
  7. They will then be redirected to the checkout page to finalize the booking.

In-store, the appointment will be visible on the schedule, marked with the selected gender icon.
