Open Cash Drawer Button in POS

Modified on Mon, 13 Oct at 2:02 PM

If your physical cash drawer is connected to a receipt printer, you can open it directly from the New Ticket or Take Payment / Refund Payment pages in POS by clicking the Open Drawer button.

Things to Know:

  • The Open Cash Drawer access control is set to Block by default. To grant access, update permissions under Business Setup > Staff & Availability > Access Control Settings.
  • To open the drawer, your receipt printer must be connected to your computer. Depending on the printer, this can be done via Wi-Fi, USB, or Bluetooth.
  • Your cash drawer must be physically connected to the receipt printer using an RJ12 cable (similar to a phone cable).
  • The Open Drawer button is not linked to your virtual register in MyTime. To open your virtual register, go to POS > Registers.

Let us now look at how this feature works:

1. Sign in and go to POS > New Ticket

2. Add an item to the ticket

3. Click the "Open Drawer" button at the top right of the page

4. You can also open the drawer from the Take Payment page

  • The Open Drawer button will be disabled if there is no cash payment and will activate automatically once a cash payment is added

5. When the drawer is opened, a print modal will appear showing the date, time, and name of the staff member who opened it. Example: Drawer opened on May 3rd, 2021, 8:55:30 PM by Leana Green.

  • Click Print to print the audit trail Printing will also trigger the physical cash drawer to open 7884815-78bd27172345073d1842c1c2c25d2ea1.png
  • Once the drawer opens, proceed to close the ticket as usual
