Appointment grouping is an excellent solution for configured family and pet accounts that need to manage complex appointment schedules. It helps streamline operations and enhances the client experience by minimizing scheduling conflicts. This article provides a step-by-step guide on how to effectively group appointments.
Things to know:
- This feature only works when all the appointments are scheduled at once using the "+ Another Family Member" or "+ Another Pet" option on the appointment modal.
- When scheduling multiple appointments for different family members or pets, you can easily switch between them after opening one of the appointments. There will be tabs at the top of the appointment modal labeled with the names of the family members or pets, allowing for quick navigation.
- When updating the status of an appointment, you will be prompted to choose whether to update just the current appointment or all related appointments at once.
- You cannot cancel all appointments at once; you can only cancel the current appointment you are viewing. To cancel other appointments, you will need to click on the tab for the specific family member or pet. This will allow you to view and cancel their respective appointments individually.
- By default, if you make changes to an appointment under one family member or pet tab and then switch to another tab, those changes will not be saved unless you manually save them first. However, when the hidden setting “Persist Changes when Switching Child Tabs on Appointment Modal” is enabled, your changes are automatically saved as you move between different tabs. This helps prevent accidental data loss. To enable this hidden setting, please contact MyTime Support at support@mytime.com. When the Setting Is Enabled:
- Save: All changes made across every tab (for each family member or pet) will be saved.
- Discard Changes: All changes made across every tab will be discarded.

Appointment Grouping on the Schedule
- Navigate to the Schedule
- Filter by the desired location
- Click on the "New Appointment" button located below the calendar on the left-hand side, or select a specific time slot directly in the schedule
- The appointment modal will appear
- Add the client for whom you are booking the appointment
- Select the desired family member or pet
- Choose a date and time for the appointment
- Select a staff member
- Select a service
- Click on the "+ Another Family Member or + Another Pet" hyperlink
- The appointment details for the additional family member or pet will appear below. You can choose to schedule appointments for the additional family member or pet concurrently (at the same time) or sequentially (after the first pet's appointment)
- Follow the steps provided in steps 6-10 for any additional appointments
- Once you have entered all required fields, select "Save."
Viewing Appointment Groups
- Navigate to the schedule and locate and open one of the appointments scheduled
- The appointment modal will display the appointment tabs at the top labeled with the names of each family member or pet
- When updating the status of the appointment, a message will appear asking if you would like to update the current appointment or all grouped appointments
- If you select to update all appointments, the updated status will be reflected across all related appointments
