Barcodes On Point of Sale (POS) Receipts

Modified on Tue, 18 Nov at 11:43 AM

MyTime provides the ability to include barcodes on Point of Sale (POS) receipts, offering a faster and more efficient way for staff to locate and manage tickets. When a barcode is printed or emailed on a receipt, staff can simply scan it to instantly open the corresponding ticket in the POS, reducing manual search time and improving accuracy during returns, exchanges, and follow-up actions.

Things to know:

  • Each barcode corresponds to the unique receipt number for a POS ticket. Scanning it instantly opens the exact ticket, reducing manual search time and improving accuracy during returns, exchanges, or reprints.
  • Receipts can be delivered in multiple formats:
  • Printed at the time of checkout
  • Emailed automatically when a ticket is closed (if email receipts are enabled)
  • Sent manually from the POS ticket as needed
  • Whether a receipt is printed, automatically emailed, or manually sent from the POS ticket, it will include both the receipt number and a scannable barcode at the bottom.
  • Staff can scan a receipt barcode while in:
  • POS > Open Tickets
  • POS > Closed Tickets
  • The related ticket will immediately load in either section.
  • When a client brings a receipt, staff can scan it to instantly see the original ticket, including items purchased, discounts, taxes, and payment details—making returns or adjustments much faster.
  • A hidden setting, “Disable ticket barcode on ticket receipts,” can remove barcodes from both printed and emailed receipts while keeping the receipt number visible. To enable this setting, contact your account manager or email support@mytime.com.
  • Regardless of how the receipt is delivered, the barcode and receipt number are always located at the bottom for easy visibility and scanning (unless disabled).
  • For a full breakdown of all elements included on POS receipts, refer to the Elements of a Receipt help center article.
