IP Verification for Staff Logins

To enhance staff login security, we offer the option to require IP verification. When enabled, staff members will need to complete two-factor authentication (2FA) when logging in from a new or unrecognized IP address.


Things to know:

  • First-time logins are automatically trusted, so no verification is required.
  • New IP logins will redirect staff to a verification page, where they must enter a 6-character alphanumeric code sent via email. This code is valid for 15 minutes. If a new code is generated, the previous one will automatically expire.
  • If the code is incorrect or expired, access will be denied with an “Invalid or expired verification code” message.
  • Once an IP address is verified, it will be trusted for one year from the date of the last use. This means that frequent location switchers will only need to verify each new location once per year.
  • Accounts with only a username (no associated email) are excluded from the verification process and do not require login verification.

Configure IP Verification for Staff Logins Setting


  1. Navigate to Business Setup > Settings
  2. In the Staff settings section, locate 'Access From A New IP Address Will Prompt An Email Verification' setting
  3. Toggle to "Yes"
  4. Save your changes


How IP Verification for Staff Logins Works


Once this setting is enabled, the system will recognize the first IP address used to log in as trusted. If the staff member attempts to log in from a new IP address, they will be redirected to a verification page. A one-time code will be sent to their registered email, and they will need to enter this code to complete the login process.


Steps for staff members logging in from a new IP address:


  1. Go to mytime.com/users
  2. Enter login credentials (email address and password)
  3. Click the 'Sign In' button
  4. A verification screen will appear, and a 6-character code will be sent to their email 
  5. Enter the 6-character alphanumeric code in the verification screen
  6. Click 'Verify'
  7. Once the code is verified, access to the account will be granted
