Client & User Profile Matching on the Public API

Modified on Tue, 18 Feb at 11:04 AM

By default, we match clients and users based on their first names and email addresses. However, you have the option to match clients and users solely based on their email addresses, even if their first names differ. This article will explore both matching options.

Things to know:

To have clients and users be matched based solely on their email is managed by a hidden setting and is disabled by default. To enable the hidden setting, please contact our support team at support@mytime.com

Match Client & User by First Name & Email Address

When the hidden setting is disabled, if a client attempts to sign up on your booking widget using the same email address and first name as the client created in-store, both profiles are synced.

However, a new client profile will be created if they use the same email address but a different first name.

Match Client & User by Email Address Only

Things to Know:

  • When the hidden setting "Match clients and users by email only" is enabled, the system strictly matches user accounts to client profiles based on their email address.
  • When a client signs up on the booking widget with the same email address but a different first name as the client created in-store, both profiles are synced (matched).
  • If a client’s user email differs from the email on file and they log in using the email on file, a new profile will be created. This occurs because the system treats the two emails as separate, even if the client's name is the same.
  • Example:
    • Megan Brown's user email: megan@mytime.com
    • Megan Brown's email on file: meganb12@mytime.com
    • If Megan logs in online using meganb12@mytime.com, the system will create a new profile, since it does not recognize it as the same user
