Best Practices for Browser and Cache Management

To ensure optimal performance while using the MyTime web application, follow these best practices for managing your browser and cache.


Use a Supported Browser

  • MyTime works best with Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge (Chromium-based). These browsers are typically the default for newer Windows OS versions.
  • Keep your browser updated regularly to avoid compatibility issues. While Chrome updates automatically by default, some network settings may restrict auto-updates.


Managing Multiple Tabs

  • You can open multiple MyTime tabs, but tabs do not sync in real-time. Data updated in one tab will not automatically refresh in another.
  • To see the latest data, refresh the page or navigate away and return. Exceptions:
    • The Scheduler syncs updates within 10–45 seconds
    • Client profiles, POS tickets, and reports require a manual refresh or page navigation to display the latest data


Local Storage and User Preferences


  • MyTime stores user preferences in the browser's local storage, which is tied to the specific machine and logged-in user.
  • Examples of saved preferences:
    • Reports: Selected location, staff, and "Closed Tickets Only" filter
    • POS: Selected location
  • Clearing local storage or deleting browser data will reset these preferences.


Refresh First When Troubleshooting


If information is missing or not updating, refresh the page before trying other troubleshooting steps.


Clear Cache and Cookies Periodically


  • While not always required, clearing your browser’s cache and cookies can prevent outdated versions of MyTime from loading due to browser caching.
  • We recommend clearing cache after refreshing as a troubleshooting step.
  • If a new MyTime version requires a cache refresh, a notification will appear at the top of the screen prompting you to refresh the page.
