When adding an attendee with a package to a class session, selecting a class eligible for payment using a package item credit will display the package label. At the time of payment, the package item credit will be applied to cover the full cost of the class session. In this article, we will provide step-by-step instructions on how you can use packages to cover class sessions.
Things to Know:
- When a client books a class, the package icon will appear, showing the number of item credits used and the remaining credits available in the package.
- The package label will not be shown in the POS for packages that are either fully used or expired
- Package Usage
- By default, package credits do not apply to classes with a $0 value. However, if the “Should generate bundle purchase usage for items with price $0” hidden setting is enabled, the item credit will be applied.
- In-store Bookings: A package is considered used when the scheduled class time has passed, or a ticket for the class has been generated, even if the ticket has not yet been closed. Example: Sarah books a yoga class in-store for 10 AM. The class time passes, so the package credit is marked as used. Alternatively, if a ticket is created for Sarah’s booking before the class time, the package is also considered used—even if the ticket is still open.
- Online Bookings: A package is considered used when the ticket for the class is saved and closed, or the scheduled class/session time has passed. Example: John books a painting class online for 2 PM. If his ticket is saved and closed before or after the class, the package credit is marked as used. If the ticket remains open but the class time passes, the package is also considered used.
- A package’s validity is determined by the local time zone of the location where it was purchased. The package remains active starting from the purchase time and expires at 11:59 PM local time on the expiration date.
- Package items follow a first-in, first-out (FIFO) consumption method. This means that items from the earliest purchased or added package will be used first when redeeming on a ticket, regardless of whether other packages in the profile have an earlier expiration date.
- Package credits are applied to the cheapest eligible class on a ticket. For example, if checking out multiple eligible classes in POS while the client has only 1 package credit, the credit will be applied to the cheapest class on the ticket.
- Staff commissions for items included in packages are set when the package is created. The commission can be calculated based on either the retail price of the individual package item or the calculated package price, which is the package price divided by the quantity of item credits.
