In this article, we will guide you through the steps of applying discounts and promotions to tickets in POS.
Things to know:
- Discounts and promotions can be added to individual items on the ticket or to all items on the ticket.
- Discounts and promotions can be applied to services, classes, memberships, packages, and gift cards.
- Discounts and promotions cannot be used to pay for taxes or fees.

- By default, promotions are applied to the least expensive item. However, you can configure your account to apply promotions to the most expensive item instead. This option is managed through the "Apply Promotions in Order of Highest to Lowest Item Cost" setting on the Business Setup > Settings page. For franchise businesses, this setting is controlled at the parent level.

Applying Discounts to POS Tickets
To apply discount to a POS ticket, simply:
- Navigate to POS > New Ticket page
- Enter the client's name
- Select a location from the location drop-down menu
- Add items to the ticket
- You can apply the discount to the ticket by clicking the Add Discount hyperlink under an individual item, or you can use the discount dropdown menu to apply the discount to all items.
- Choose whether you would like the discount to apply as a percentage or as a fixed dollar amount for the ticket or for individual item(s) on the ticket.
- Enter the percentage or dollar amount for the ticket or individual item(s) that you want the discount to cover, and then click "Apply."
- Once the discount is added to the ticket, take payment and close the ticket.
Applying Promotions to POS ticket
To apply promotions to a POS ticket, simply:
- Navigate to POS > New Ticket page
- Enter the client's name
- Select a location from the location drop-down menu
- Add items to the ticket

Depending on how you configure the promotion criteria and benefits, the promotion may cover a portion of the ticket or the entire ticket. Learn more here. If the promotion is set to auto-apply once qualified items are added to the ticket, it will automatically apply. To manually add a promotions to the ticket, you can click on the Add Discount hyperlink or use the discount dropdown menu to select one of the available promotions.
- Once you select the promotion you want to use, click "Apply."
- Once the promotion is applied to the ticket, take payment and close the ticket.
