Strong Customer Authentication (SCA) For Card Payments Online

Strong Customer Authentication (SCA) in MyTime enhances the security of credit card payments and reduces the risk of fraud for Stripe forms. In this article, we will explore how SCA works within the MyTime platform. 

Things to know:

  • Currently, SCA only works in the UK (and Australia if needed) 
  • If the bank indicates that SCA verification is necessary when a client uses the booking widget for bookings or purchases, we only reroute them to the bank website; email or SMS are not needed because they can complete the SCA verification challenge while they are at the computer.
  • If the client changes their mind about the verification or the verification fails for any reason, the client will be notified and instructed to select an alternative payment method.

SCA on Booking Widget 

On the booking widget, your clients have control, and the need for email or SMS for verification is eliminated, so the bank verification can be smoothly presented in the same session.

  1. When your clients select a service and time and are directed to the checkout page, they will be required to enter the card number, expiration, CVC, country, and zip code
  2. Click "Add"
  3. The bank verification pop-up will appear. Click "Complete"
  4. The verification will be successful and redirect the client back to the checkout page > Click "Complete Booking" to complete the checkout
 

SCA on Booking Widget > My Account 

Your clients can also verify their cards when adding them under My Account:

  1. From the booking widget, your clients can access their accounts by selecting the dropdown arrow next to their initials and then 'Account'
  2. On the account's page, click "Payment" from the left-hand panel
  3. Select the "Add Card" link
  4. When the add card modal appears, they will need to enter the card number, expiration, CVC, country, and zip code                             
  5. Click " Add"
  6. The certification pop-up will then appear. Click "Complete"                             
  7. The card will then be added and the success confirmation message will appear
