Extending Appointment Duration

In this article, we will discuss how to adjust the duration of an appointment from the schedule, helping you keep your schedule flexible and responsive to your clients' needs. Also, take note that the word schedule is lowercase. 

Things to know:

  • There are 2 ways to extend the duration of an appointment:
    • By using the duration extender icon
    • Changing the duration on the appointment modal
  • Changing the duration on the appointment modal is available for all appointments
  • The duration extender icon is only displayed on appointment tiles for appointments with one service, including multi-staff services (where more than one staff member is assigned, such as in a couples massage) and multi-client services (where more than one client is scheduled for the appointment). 
  • The duration extender icon is not available for single service appointments with buffer or processing time 

Extending Appointment Duration on the Schedule

  1. Navigate to the Schedule 
  2. Filter to the desired location and date
  3. Locate the appointment for which you wish to extend the duration
  4. To extend the duration of the appointment, you can:
    • Pull down the duration extender icon on the appointment tile 
    • Extend the duration on the appointment modal

  1. On the schedule, hover over the appointment to see the duration extender icon 68426289-08AC-46BA-902C-26A2FCEFFDF7_4_5005_c.jpeg
  2. Click the icon and pull downwards to the time slot of your preference 
  3. The appointment modal will open, showing that the duration of the service has been increased. Additionally, a checkbox will appear, allowing you to select "Always use this duration for this client."                             
  4. Confirm the new duration end time by saving the appointment

Extend Duration on Appointment Modal

  1. On the schedule, open the appointment 
  2. For general appointments without any processing or buffer times, you can simply change the end time                                 
  3. For appointments with processing or buffer time, the duration will be displayed differently and requires you to click "Edit Time"
    • The duration modal will appear > Edit the duration of the appointment
    • Click Done
    • The appointment will reflect the new duration and a "Always use this duration for {this client}" checkbox will appear                     
  4. Click Save
