Calendar View vs List View on the Booking Widget & Express Checkout

When booking appointments online, clients can select available slots either through the calendar view or the list view. This article will compare the two options to help you understand the benefits of using the calendar view versus the list view when scheduling appointments.

Things to know: 

  • The calendar view provides a visual layout that allows clients to select appointment times when booking online. It shows each staff member's availability by date in a calendar format.
  • The calendar view feature is NOT available for:
    • Accounts with only one staff member
    • Accounts that do not allow clients to select a specific staff member online
    • Accounts where staff members have different booking intervals
    • Accounts with the service price multiplier enabled
    • Multi-day services
  • For accounts with the multi-staff feature enabled, clients can choose a time slot for each staff member to perform each service directly from the calendar view.
  • The round-robin mechanism does not work with the calendar view, so clients will need to select an available time slot for a specific staff member.
  • In list view, clients can choose the "No Preference" option, and the system will automatically assign the appointment to an available staff member. Learn more about how the round-robin mechanism works with the "No Preference" option here.
  • In calendar view, if only one service is added to the cart, the selected time slot cannot be unselected by clicking on it. However, selecting a new time slot will automatically deselect the previously chosen one.

Calendar View Configuration

  1. Navigate to Business Setup > SettingsScreenshot 2024-11-04 130409.jpg
  2. Scroll down to the Online Bookings section and locate the "Enable Calendar View in Online Booking" setting
  3. Toggle to "Yes"
  4. Scroll to the bottom of the page and save your changes

Booking Appointment with the Calendar View

To book appointments online with the calendar view, your clients would:

  1. Navigate to your booking widget 
  2. Click 'Book' next to the desired service
  3. On the "Pick a Time" page, they can toggle to Calendar View. This view displays dates one day at a time and each staff member with their available time slots
  4. Select the calendar icon next to the date to open the calendar view, which provides better visibility of available dates                                                   
  5. To select a time, they can click an available time slot under the preferred staff member's name. The selected time will then be highlighted
  6. Once selected, they can click 'Continue to Checkout'
  7. Complete intake forms and credit card details, if required
  8. Click the 'Complete Booking' button to complete checkout

Booking Appointment with the List View

To book appointments online with the list view, your client would:

  1. Navigate to your booking widget 
  2. Click 'Book' next to the desired service
  3. On the "Pick a Time" page, users can toggle to the list view. This view presents dates in a monthly or weekly view, showing available time slots for all staff members in the business combined if "No Preference" is selected for the "Booking With" field. If a specific staff is selected, then the available time slots for that staff member will be displayed. To select a time, simply click on any available time from the list.
    • Month View
    • Week View
  4. Once selected, they can click 'Continue to Checkout'
  5. Complete intake forms and credit card details, if required
  6. Click the 'Complete Booking' button to complete checkout
