AVS Check for Cloud9 Key-in-Card Transactions

To combat fraud and minimize chargebacks, we have put in place the Address Verification System (AVS) to strengthen our payment security measures. AVS is a security feature that verifies whether the billing address provided by a customer during debit and credit card transactions matches the address on file for the card. In this article, we will guide you through the steps to configure your account to utilize this feature, as well as demonstrate how it works.

Configuring AVS Checks

To configure AVS checks on your account, simply:

  1. Navigate to Business Setup > Settings
  2. Scroll to the POS section and locate the "Ignore AVS response for key-in/card-not-present transactions" setting. This setting is set to "YES" by default, meaning that AVS responses will be disregarded for key-in or card-not-present transactions.
  3. To activate the AVS check for key-in/card-not-present transactions, change the setting to "No"
  4. Then, scroll to the bottom of the screen and click "Save."

Adding a Card to a Client's Profile

Once the "Ignore AVS response for key-in/card-not-present transactions" setting is disabled, entering an incorrect zip code while adding a card to the client profile will prevent the card from being saved, and the following error message will be displayed:

Once the "Ignore AVS response for key-in/card-not-present transactions" setting is disabled, entering an incorrect zip code while adding a client card from the appointment modal will prevent the card from being saved, and the following error message will be displayed:

Adding a Card in POS 

When the setting "Ignore AVS response for key-in/card-not-present transactions" is disabled, entering an incorrect zip code while adding a client card in the POS system will result in the card not being saved.
